Sisterhood annual paid-up membership dinner      12-03-2009

More than 70 Beth Shalom Sisterhood members came together in November for our annual paid-up membership dinner, noshing on kosher Chinese cuisine, bidding on our “Bears for Life” centerpieces, renewing old friendships, and generally enjoying a relaxing evening out. Our membership and programming chairs are busy sorting through the many wonderful ideas submitted by those attending for their ideal Sisterhood program. If you missed the dinner because you haven’t yet joined Sisterhood, remember that it is never too late to become part of our “Garden of Friends”! Dues are the lifeline of our organization and help us provide so many extra for the Beth Shalom community, including unsponsored kiddushes, Simchat Torah treats, sponsorship of a visiting rabbinical student, We Care packages for college students, and more. In just a few more days, Hannukah will be here. Don’t miss our annual Hannukah party on December 6 (free to Sisterhood families—yet another membership benefit!), and B’nai Mitzvah project showcase. Sisterhood’s gift shop will be open during the party, so pick up some Hannukah candles and gifts for families and friends. See the ad in this edition of the Scroll for party details. Last month I wrote about trying new experiences. If you haven’t done so before and would like to take part in Sisterhood Shabbat (January 29-30), in Hebrew or English, just let me know by leaving a message for Sisterhood at 410- 531-5115 ext. 324 or by e-mailing sisterhoodbethshalom@gmail.com. And of course, all those who have participated in the past are invited to join us again. Eve Klein P.S. If you want to learn some Hebrew for Sisterhood Shabbat, or become more comfortable with the Shabbat service, check out the Adult Education offerings.
