Beth Shalom's Lifelong Jewish Learning (formerly Adult Education) Program Offers
Classes, Workshops, Speakers, Dinners
And Other Programs Throughout the Year

Lech L’mad, our Lifelong Jewish Learning program, offers individuals in the community a unique opportunity to participate in a large variety of activities and courses throughout the year. All of our courses and activities are open to both members and non-members.

A variety of courses have been offered in our diverse program, including prayer, Bible studies, Torah reading, Talmud, Jewish cooking, ethics, Kabbalah, and much more. The subjects vary each year so that there is always something new to learn. Hebrew Literacy courses are offered every year from beginning through intermediate levels. Workshops are conducted throughout the year with themes for various holidays, davening mechanics, songs, and more. Several times throughout the year, a discussion to explore themes in that week's Torah reading is held after Saturday morning services. These courses and workshops are led by rabbis, cantors, teachers, and congregants.

The Lifelong Jewish Learning Committee also sponsors fantastic programs such as Shabbat Dinners, scholar-in-residence programs, and speakers. Our guest speakers have addressed topics that are cultural (such as Jewish poetry or the Jewish population survey), political (immigration, Middle East reporting), historical (the Marrano experience) and religious (the relationship between Moses and God). A few years ago, we've had a Shabbaton in New York City, which was a huge success. We've established relationships with other faith communities through our programs. We have also sponsored yearly Shabbat Across America programs, fantastic Tu B'Shevat Seders, and Shavuot study evenings.
