Status of Our New Sound System

On our first weekend, sound in the sanctuary was good but there was a hum on the zoom. We think we know what that was and how to fix it (easily) so all should be good going forward. We have 6 ceiling speakers left over to replace bad ones in the next phase which will cover the hall, lobby, and a classroom. Since all the cabling for those rooms is already done, this will be a much smaller project. We have other more pressing projects to focus on first, so I don't expect to move forward for at least 6 months.

The contractor has installed all the infrastructure(cabling) for all the ceiling speakers, including the ones for the future (hall, lobby, etc.) The team was able to mount the new main speakers as well. Next week, they'll install all the rack equipment, the ceiling speakers in the library section of the sanctuary, and officially cut over to the new main speakers while removing the old ones. Tuning of the new main speakers will take place mid-Wednesday morning and their plan is to be wrapped up by the end of that day.

All the equipment is in except those last 2 speakers - the big ones that will go up front. The electric work is done and came in within budget! Current start date - whether or not the new speakers arrive - is October 21st. We might have to delay for the holidays though. Project duration is about 2 weeks.

Still waiting for essential equipment before we can start the installation. Everything is in except for 2 Bose Professional Beam Steering Arrays, and 6 Bose Professional Ceiling Speakers  (both due 9/16/2024) and a special mounting bracket for the motorized fader controller (no expected date).  It's the speakers that are really holding us up. 

This week we should be meeting with the contractor to discuss the electrical work that needs to be done.

The gauge at the bottom of the page shows our pledge success against our goal of $60,000 for Phase 1. We will likely have a second campaign in the future for Phase 2 which will add speakers in the lobby, hallway and key classrooms. Any fund that remain after Phase 1 will be rolled into Phase 2.
